Elle Druskin has created one of my favorite towns on Earth: Liberty Heights, New Jersey. I've never thought much of NJ before, but in my opinion, if Liberty Heights were real, it would make New Jersey worth keeping all by itself. So, okay, it has Princeton, and Springstein and was the home of Edison and Einstein. But they've got nothing on Liberty Heights, the denizens of which make me laugh out loud wherever I am--and that goes for both the human and non-human denizens. Plus there's always a bit of mystery and a bit of romance in case I get bored laughing. Yeah, right! I get after-shock chuckles just thinking about these books. Ms. Druskin is a wonderful writer!
